UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and the Alpena Boys and Girls Club will be hosting an event to cover the importance of oral hygiene. Kids between the ages of 6-9 are encouraged to attend.

Event is held at the Boys & Girls Club of Alpena-601 River Street
Open to all members and youth in the community ages 6-12
We are looking to get our members rallied around fun new ways to exercise
We are bringing in a super hero league of fitness experts from the Performance Locker to do a super hero obstacle course
A healthy snack class is held for the youth and a double slide bounce house.
All activities are inside the building!

Health Screening Unit is coming to Alpena!
On Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 from 3:00 PM-5:30 PM the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena will be hosting a community mobile screening unit at no charge. All community members 19 years and younger and over 55 years old are invited to attend this free event that is geared toward connecting our community to local health care physicians and providing preemptive care. The goal of the event is to provide kids and adults with the resources to live a better, healthier life. Nurses will be on site conducting BMI, immunization checks, heart checks, concussion and diabetes screenings. All info is kept confidential and not shared with any third party and HIPAA compliant. Please come out and share our goal of creating a healthier future for our great City.

Linn Energy Donates to the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena
Linn Energy makes $1,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. Linn Energy Representative, Jake Neumann presents a generous donation to Bradley Somers, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. The donation will help offset costs incurred for the Club's summer food program and help facilitate physical fitness activities.
Boys and Girls Club Receives Donation Men's Softball League Home Run Derby
Boys and Girls Club of Alpena receives donation from the Alpena Men's Softball League Home Run Derby. The event took place August 15th at the Alpena Men's softball fields. Several participants showed up to test their home run power and graciously donate to the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. Carmeuse Lime and Stone and LaFarge also made made donations to the event. The donations between participants and businesses was $650. Jimmy Johns, Dean Arbour and Budweiser of Alpena all made prize donations that were awarded to the winners of the event. Chad Williams won the men's home run division while Ellie Walker won the women's division. Pictured Bradley Somers- Executive Director-Boys and Girls Club of Alpena, Chad Williams-Men's Division Winner, Ellie Walker-Women's Division Winner, Robin Alexander, Jer Lalonde-Event Organizer and also pictured are some of the youth that make an event like this all worthwhile.
Besser Credit Union Honored For Donation to the Club's Mentoring Program
Boys and Girls Club of Alpena honors Besser Credit with the 2014 Bowling for Kids' Sake Top Philanthropic Team for their selfless and generous support of the Club's Mentoring Program. Besser Credit Union has been supporting the Club for many years and this year they were awarded the traveling bowling ball that is bestowed to the team that raises the most money annually. Besser Credit Union and its employees raised over $1900 for the 2014 March event.
To enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
The Club focuses on educational, preventative and leadership programming designed to pass along vital skills, knowledge and resources to the next generation.
