This year's winner of the prestigious Youth of the Year Award is Natalie DeFour. Natalie Defour represented the Alpena community this year in Troy, MI and competed against 13 other outstanding youth from all over Michigan.
Natalie is a senior at Alpena High School. She has been accepted to Central Michigan University and will attend in the fall. She will major in English and is setting the course to pursue a career as a novelist or poet. Natalie uses the skills she has obtained at The Boys and Girls Club to reach out to others and be involved in her community. “My lifelong goal is to empower others through my words and actions as a writer and a volunteer.” She is involved with many activities; some include YVC, DARE, National Honor Society and The Senior Planning Team. She enjoys reading, knitting and playing the guitar.
